You cannot pay the sin debt on credit, neither can you buy your Salvation We can never pay the debt for sin. You can’t go through life thinking that you can do enough good things to pay for you sins, therefore you will be allowed to enter heaven one day.

If Thou Hast Nothing To Pay

What happens if you find yourself in a bind one day and you have no way of paying something you owe?  Has this ever happened to you?

Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.
If thou hast nothing to pay why should he take away the bed from under thee?
Proverbs 22:26-27

I never would have thought to see the Gospel in these verses, but it is there!  This is what I learned about the Gospel of Christ while studying these particular verses.

We live in a day of buying on credit.

Just charge it!  Pay it off little by little.  I’m thankful that my husband and I no longer do that.  What a feeling of freedom when you are debt free!  Really, If you don’t have the money, then don’t charge it! You may end up losing your very bed from underneath you.  I’ve seen it happen to people that I know personally and you probably have too.

For one to make such an agreement knowing before he cannot pay all debts which may be incurred is fraudulent, for an angry creditor will not seek payment from a debtor whom he knows has nothing, but will go to his surety and may legally exact from him everything he has if the debt requires it, even taking his bed from him, leaving him, as it were, homeless. -Robert Jones. You cannot pay your sin debt on credit, nor can you buy your Salvation

We can never pay the debt for sin. You can’t go through life thinking that you can do enough good things (SEE ARE YOU A GOOD PERSON?)  to pay for you sins, therefore you will be allowed to enter heaven one day.  Just as you must pay a credit card off in full to be free from that debt, the sin debt too, must be paid in full.

GOOD NEWS!  The debt for our sin has been paid and it has been paid in full!

The debt has been paid by one person and that ONE PERSON IS JESUS CHRIST.  Only He can pay the debt and He has done so already through his death on the cross.

How this truth is magnified in the condescension of the Lord Jesus Christ, His people’s Surety, Who left heaven’s glory, becoming so poor that He had not “where to lay his head” (Lk. 9:58), being required by the justice of God’s broken law to also lay down His life as a sacrifice to pay their sin debt in full with the price of His own blood.

So stop trying to pay it yourself for it can never be done!

It has already been done.

The Bible says IT IS FINISHED!  It has been done once for all! There are not enough good things that you and I can do in this whole world for a whole lifetime to pay for our sin; instead we must accept this gift of charity. In our pride we don’t like to accept charity but the truth is we need to humble ourselves, admit our wicked, sinful state, and accept the perfect charity or the perfect love that has been offered for us.  This is the love of Christ when he laid down his life for us and did so while we were yet sinners.

Reject it and one day you will pay through death in the eternal lake of fire.

The wages (payment) of sin is death but praise God the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23)  Christ alone is our surety!  Accept Christ’s death in your place or reject it and you will pay by dying in your sin only to be separated from God forever.

Praise God for His Grace

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Please don’t go away without the Savior!
