Do you smell something good? Offering Sweet Incense To The Lord

Smell goods!  Mm-mm,  aren’t they nice?

It’s always nice to smell something good!  Coffee in the morning,  a sweet smelling candle,  the smell of clean when you’ve cleaned your house, handmade soaps, nice perfumes, freshly baked cookies or pie – Mmm, Mmm  good!  Some smells bring wonderful memories.  Sometimes I’ve held a grandchild right after a bath and realized how sweet they smell.  It’s refreshing isn’t it?

As I think about enjoying sweet smells, it reminds me  of sweet incense that was offered to the Lord.

Ps 141:2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.  Sweet incense was burned every morning and evening on the altar of incense.

Ex 30:7-8 And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it. And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations.

Morning and Evening incense was offered – I’m remind of Scripture that says Morning and Noon and Evening will I cry aloud and the Lord will hear my voice.

It was perpetual – Pray without ceasing.  My prayers ought to be continually before the Lord.

Our prayers, offered through faith in the atonement of his Son, are fragrant and pleasant to him

When I smell something wonderful it reminds me that I need to offer sweet incense to the Lord.

I can do that by spending quiet and quality time each day worshiping the Lord and praying to Him.  This should be at the top of my “TO DO” list.   This is sweet smelling and pleasant to Him.

As we offer this sweet incense to the Lord, then we in turn will share a sweet fragrance that can inspire others to follow.

If you Know Him you are entitled to come boldly to the throne of grace and offer your prayers to Him.
