A Citizenship in Heaven
Where is your citizenship? Yes, I am a citizen of the US, but it’s not my permanent citizenship. One day I will permanently live in Heaven. Will you?
But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. (Phil. 3:20 NLT)
Obtaining Citizenship
The citizens of Heaven enjoy privileges and benefits, but we cannot obtain that citizenship because of parental rights, nor can we purchase that citizenship. You see this citizenship was already purchased for us through Jesus and his blood on the cross of Calvary. When He bought it, He offered it to all freely as a gift. He gave up His own Kingdom that He might buy us our admission into His heavenly kingdom. By a second birth, being born again by the Spirit, we now have the right to that citizenship.
Become a free born citizen
Now is the time if you have not yet been born again. Can you affirm that your citizenship is in Heaven? You can make sure today. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Do you believe in His death, burial, and resurrection? Do you believe that Jesus was God in human flesh? Put your trust in Him and His work on the cross. It is only by the grace of God and His finished work on the cross that you will be assured of a home in Heaven. It is not by being a good person. None of our good works can get us there. Heaven’s citizens are those who have been born into God’s family through faith in Christ. (Eph. 2:8-9)
A Legal Transaction
As a sinner, when I repented and believed the Gospl of Jesus Christ, then a legal transaction took place and made me a citizen of Heaven. Will I meet you there?
