Challenge
The word for Five MInute Friday is CHALLENGE. I’ve joined in with them this week.
START
It is certainly a challenge to watch your grandkids for an extended period of time. Well, I just had them for one night which turned into two, but it can take its toll on a grandparent. Everytime I’m asked to keep my grandkids, I challenge myself to do some fun things with them, to spend one on one time with them, but most of all to instill gospel truths into their hearts. That is what I want most for them. Unfortunately, I feel as if I fail at this so much of the time. When you’re watching anywhere from 5 to 10 children at a time, that really can become a challenge. I feel as though all I do is run, run, run, and do, do, do! Fix meals, give out snacks, take someone to the potty, change diapers, look for a certain item someone needs, doctor boo boos and be a peacemaker when trouble starts between personalities. (Thankfully, that doesn’t happen often) All these things are necessary and are part of the challenges of life when caring for the littles. But it is during these times that I must challenge myself to use all the moments to talk of all the wondrous things the Lord does, to let each child know how much God cares and loves and even though I may fail as a grandma, He never fails.
We are challenged in Deuteronomy to continually talk of the ways of the Lord, when we’re awake, when we’re walking, when we’re sitting down, when we’re standing, when we’re upon our beds. Everything that comes out of our mouths ought to point to the Lord. So many everyday things can be used as object lessons while training the littles. How I must remind myself of this over and over. The devil would love to have us believe the lie, that there is no time to teach them in the Word of God and they wouldn’t understand it anyway. He is a liar from the beginning. Trust God, take the challenge, begin now to instill God’s Word into your children and grandchildren every in every opportunity that arises.
END
How are you doing with this challenge?
Deuteronomy 6:6-8 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
