Off to College – Top Categories and Ideas

It has been one of those weeks with lots of interruptions that might not be expected.  But I guess in Grandma‘s life, I should start learning that there are always interruptions.  Now, I’m not complaining, mind you, for most of these interruptions involve grand kids and how can a grandma turn down spending time with those precious lives that the Lord has given us to help train for His glory.

It is so hard to believe

It has been over 40 years that I graduated from college.  Although it was hard to leave home (I definitely was a homebody and didn’t like leaving my mama!) , those were some of the best years of my life as I made godly life long friends as well as getting a wonderful education engulfed in the Word of God.  Most important make sure you are in God’s will and be assured He will care for you.

It took me about a month to get through the worst of it, homesickness that is, and now I would not trade those years for anything.  It was right where God wanted me and it was a great preparation time for serving Him.  Every year when it is time for the college campuses to open, I am glad to reminisce and dwell on those lovely days.  

Are You Getting Ready for College?

Perhaps someone out there is getting ready to enter a campus and you need some ideas of things to take with you.  It sure seems that when it is time to enter dorm life, that you just about set up home there. HA!   I remember seeing my husband (then fiance’) load up the car with his things and his sister’s things to go off to college and boy was he frustrated when he saw all the stuff that she had to take HA!  Guys, I’m sure, could live on a little of nothing, but girls, well that’s another story.

 

By all means, put your Bible and journal at the top of your list.  Be sure to read and study every day and record those things that the Lord has taught you or is teaching you.  And grab a devotional book and other uplifting literature to help keep you focused on the Lord and His will for your life.  Then in turn be an encouragement to others that the Lord brings along your path.
