Facing Troublesome Times – Twelve Verses to Help – Free Printable

Troublesome times are facing us now. And as troublesome as they may be, we can be and we should be grateful.

The Lord never promised we wouldn’t have trouble.

But He did promise His faithfulness through it all,  Our only hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ.  When Adam and Eve sinned, this world has been in trouble ever since.  There will always be sin and destruction, troublesome times and hurting hearts everywhere you turn.  More than anything the world needs Jesus!

When facing Troublesome Times why not spend time in the Word of God and meditate on ways that He can give you strength during this world pandemic.

Verses to meditate on during troublesome times

Below are twelve verses that would be great to meditate on during these hard times.  There are many more that could be added to this list, but these are a few that may be a blessing to your heart.

1. COUNT IT ALL JOY

James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

We are told to count it as joy when we face trials.  Now that’s not an easy or natural thing to do, but we can realize that God has a purpose and is always working in ways that we cannot see.  Trust Him, be joyful, and and know He has something far better than we can ever imagine.  (See also Romans 8:28-29) It isn’t just that all things work together for good if we love God, but it’s the fact that He is conforming us more and more into His image.  While listening to stories of Christians who have gone through great trials, I find them saying over and over what a privilege it is to suffer for the Lord Jesus.

Here’s the book we’re reading.

And this is a good one too.

2. GOD IS OUR REFUGE

Psalm 9:9 The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

Psalm 9:9

3. SING!

Psalm 59:16 But I will sing of Thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of Thy mercy in the morning: for Thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

Psalm 59:16 – SING!  Sing of God’s power.  David said it was his defense and refuge in times of trouble.  Singing and praising God can do so much for our hearts.  The Lord can give us a song in the night.

4. SING OF GOD’S MERCIES!

Psalm 89:1 I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 89:1 – Sing of God’s mercies!  Tell your children and grandchildren of the mercies of God!  Rehearse in their ears over and over the great things God has done for us.  Tell them the great Bible stories and the great truths of God’s Word.  Continue to tell them of the Salvation of the Lord available to all. What mercy!  What love!  What grace!

5. GOD IS OUR COMFORTER AND WE CAN COMFORT OTHERS

2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

2 Corinthians 1:3 – God comforts us as no other can.  And as you are comforted, you can in turn share that comfort with someone else.

6. JESUS IS OUR ROCK!

Psalm 61:2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto Thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to THE Rock that is higher than I.

7. HAVE A SECRET PLACE TO SPEND TIME WITH THE LORD EVERY DAY

Psalm 91:1-3 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

Have you set time aside each day to dwell in the secret place of the Most High?  What a wonderful place to hide!  Like baby chicks, He covers us with his feathers and watches over us.

8.  JESUS IS THE AUTHOR OF YOUR STORY

Hebrews 12:2-3 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Don’t you love it that Jesus writes your story?  He’s the author.  He already knows how your story will end.  So why do we worry so much.  We need only to trust knowing that His way is perfect and everything will come out just right.

9. LOOK UP AND PRAY!

Psalm 5:3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto Thee, and will look up.

Have you looked up today?  Raise your voice to the Lord first thing every morning and why not noon and night too?  He’s there and He cares!

10. THE LORD PROTECTS HIS OWN

Psalm 31:23 O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

The LORD protects His own, and those who are proud and arrogant will be harshly punished.

11. WE ARE HERE FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS

Esther 4;14 . . . and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

Once again, can you trust God that He knows what He is doing?  Just as Esther was made queen for such a time, we too are here for such a time as this.  Trust Him!  Fast and Pray.  He knows how it’s going to end.

12. OUR HOPE IS IN THE LORD

Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.

Where is your hope?  In this world and what it has to offer?  Sometimes I get upset and anxious because I know that I just want my comfort back.  Well, it’s really not about me or my comfort.  I need to trust and obey and remember that my hope is in the Lord.

My Hope Is In The Lord …
His grace has planned it all‘
Tis mine but to believe
And recognize His work of love
And Christ receive
-Norman J. Clayton

Are you anxious, troubled?  Keep your eyes on THE ONE who cares for you.  The Bible calls our trials light afflictions that are just for a moment.

2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

May we learn to fear the Lord and to trust Him with all our hearts, let’s not try to figure things out for ourselves, but just take one step at a time knowing that He works all for our good in order that we might be conformed more to His image. (Romans 8:28-29)

Remember He’s coming soon so look up for this could be the day!
