Is the Lord Your Strength and Your Shield?
Psalms 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
God Is:
- My strength
Nehemiah 8:10 The Joy of the Lord is your strength
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me
- My shield
He is my protector. He protects me from danger physically and spiritually. He protects me from foolishness, from unwise decisions, from the devil who is always trying to devour me, and in so many other ways. Psalm 32:7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah
Because God is my strength and shield, I should, and I will:
- Trust in Him
Psalm 48:14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
Don’t rely on your own wisdom or understanding, instead look to Him and let Him show you the way. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
When I trust in Him:
- He will help me
Psalm 121 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
This causes me to:
- Rejoice in my heart
Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway and again I say rejoice
- Praise Him with my song
Praise is comely – Psalm 147:1 Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.
