Journal As You Read God’s Word
As I read God’s Word each day, I keep an open journal in front of me. I started this several years ago, but wished I had started very early in life. Years ago, I heard a very wise lady say, just write at least one verse that spoke to your heart today and so I began to do that. In so doing it has enabled me to better meditate upon God’s Word as well as study it further. I then found that it didn’t always stop with just one verse. The Lord would open my heart to many wonderful truths and my journal began to fill up more and more.
Using a Daily Journal is Now Part of My Life
I keep new notebooks on hand so that I am ready to start a new one once I use up the current one. In this post, you’ll find three devotional journals that were offered to me in exchange for review.
- I was quite surprised when I opened them up to see how well made and attractive they were. They are very nice journals and I plan to keep one for myself and to pass the others along as gifts.
- These are 365 day journals.
- The covers are very attractive and reflect the type of devotional you will find inside.
- Each day begins with Bible Verses, an illustration, and/or quotes.
- The journals have ribbon bookmarks and elastic closures.
- These journals offer one good way to begin your day by meditating on the truths of God’s Word while you write down your thoughts.
For myself, this would be a good “extra journal” if you want to put it that way. Why? The writing space if very limited and if you saw my daily journal, you would know that I need far more space for writing my notes and thoughts that the Lord inspires me with each day. Although I like the fact that they do give you writing space, I would still have to add notes and would have papers sticking out all over the place. 🙂
Would I recommend?
The journals are lovely and the few devotions that I did read on the top of the pages were inspiring and thought provoking. Like I said, I plan to use one for myself. So, yes, I would recommend it for some daily inspiration and quick notes and thoughts. But I think the best Bible journaling is done by opening God’s Word and studying it for yourself (you can snatch a free bookmark here to help you along with your Bible Study)

Do you journal? What’s your favorite way? The new year will soon be here if the Lord tarries. There’s no better way to start a new year than to do it with an open Bible, notebook, and pen in hand. But why wait. Start now. Don’t just journal, but study to show yourself as an approved worker who is not ashamed and handles God’s Word as one should. (see 2 Timothy 3:15)
