My God delights in Mercy!
Have you given thanks to God today for His mercy! He delights in mercy and His mercy is new every morning! Micah 7:18 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
Why should we thank Him for His mercy?
HE IS GOOD – There is none good, but God
HE IS THE GOD OF gods – There is only One True God
Isa 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
HE IS THE LORD OF lords
Rev 19:16 On his robe and his thigh he has a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS
HIS MERCY ENDURES FOREVER
Psalm 136:1 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
HE IS THE GREAT CREATOR
- He made the heavens in His wisdom
- He stretched out the earth above the waters
- He made great light, the sun and the moon and the stars
Nehemiah 9:6 Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.
HE IS THE DELIVERER
He delivered Israel from Egypt by
- smiting the firstborn
- dividing the Red Sea so Israel cold pass through the midst of it on dry land
- by overthrowing Pharaoh and all his host in the Red sea
Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
HE IS OUR LEADER
- He can lead through the wilderness
- He is the ruler of rulers and can smite any King that He desires
- He can give us the land of our enemy
Pro 8:20-21 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.
HE REMEMBERS US IN OUR LOW ESTATE
- He redeems us from our enemies
- He provides our needs even in the midst of hard times
Psalm 40:17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for His mercy endureth for ever.
When I dwell on the mercies of God I am overwhelmed with all that He has done for me. He redeemed by soul and brought me out of the miry clay. He put my feet on a firm foundation, a foundation that no other man can lay. That is the foundation of Jesus Christ, the one who only can redeem us from our sins. Praise God! He continues His mercies day by day in the things you read in Psalm 136 and in so many other ways. It is of His mercies that we are not consumed. It is God’s mercy that He cares and he is patient and loving and kind and waiting with open arms for a wayward child to return to Him or another sheep to hear the call of the Shepherd and come into the fold. The fact that God delights in being merciful to me is cause to rejoice! Have you thanked Him today?
