Never Forget – Thinking about 9/11

September 11th – Never forget! I may not forget, but my grandchildren don’t even know for the most part.  To me it seems like this just happened and that they were there too. (Here is a playlist I started on YouTube of that day)

Yes, I may never forget, but I’m afraid my grandchildren will never even know and they won’t even have a clue unless I rehearse these events in their ears. I want them to know all about America and that it was founded on Christian principles. I want them to know God’s multiple blessings on us, and now where our wickedness has brought us. But they won’t know it, if I don’t keep repeating it. They won’t love God if I don’t keep repeating His Word, His love, His redemption, His worthiness, and then live it out before them. It is no wonder that God told Israel to teach these things diligently to their children and to beware lest they forget (Deut. 6). And how easily they did forget (and how easily I forget!)

America has forgotten!

Praise the Lord that God is still merciful, but for how long? True, I will never forget 9/11 in one sense. I remember it well, where I was, the time of day, watching the horrific event unfold before my very eyes on the television! But if I don’t remind myself of God’s mercy and deliverance over and over, then in one sense I actually do forget. Sadly, from day to day I often go right on living in my own state of worldliness.

I forget:

  • Who is ultimately in control
  • Who has given us our freedoms all along
  • Who can save our children and grandchildren and our nation

Praise God, He never forgets me, but yet He remembers my sins no more! Yes, for the believer, that is one thing He has forgotten!  Hallelujah!  They are buried in the deepest sea, removed as far as the east is from the west!  What a Savior!

Though our sins may be as scarlet He remembers them no more!

Some Good Reminders:

Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;  Deuteronomy 4:9

    • It is God’s judgements and statutes that meks us wise; it was godly principles that made us a great nation, but we have forgotten and the world sees it and knows.

Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.  Deuteronomy 4:23

    • We as a nation have forgotten; we have made pride and wealth and “freedom” our idols.  We have forgotten that it was God who made us a great nation.  But God is a consuming fire.  He is a jealous God! For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.  Deuteronomy 4:24

And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you.  Deuteronomy 4:27

    • As I think about this verse, I can’t help but wonder, will America be scattered among the nations?  People from every nation are entering our country.  They are destroying our foundation.  Are we lost among them?  Our we becoming few in number?

May we remember the USA, that HE made for us and the freedoms that HE gave us.

But God

Yes, He is a jealous God and He is a consuming fire, but He is also a merciful God!

Seek Him; You will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and soul.  Turn to Him.  Turn to Him in your trials and tribulations.  We are possibly in the latter days.  Turn to Him now and be obedient, before it is eternally too late for your soul.

For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.  Deuteronomy 4:31

Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, … To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; (Luke 1:68-72)

May God have mercy on us another day!

May we remember that He is the God of all gods who delivers us from our enemies.  The wicked will one day be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. (Psalm 9:17)

We are a needy people, sinners that need the forgiveness and redemption of God through His Son Jesus.  God did not forget us.  He sent His only son to redeem us.

God will arise.  He will not let men prevail.  He will judge the heathen and put them in fear. Psa 9:20  Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.

May we use those freedoms to proclaim Him, and the name of His Son Jesus to a lost and dying World for those freedoms are quickly being snatched from us.

May we teach His commandments diligently to our children and grandchildren so that when they ask us “What does all this mean?” we can say, “We were bondmen and the Lord gave our country freedom, but our wickedness is driving us back into bondage. We are bondmen to sin, but the Lord has made a way of redemption through the Lord Jesus Christ and His shed blood on the cross.”

May my children and grandhcildren set their hope in God and not forget His works.  Lord, help me to show your works from generation to generation. (Ps. 78:7)

Let His praise be continually in our mouths.  Let us bless the Lord and never forget His benefits (Psalm 103)

As the Psalmist says over and over in Psalm 119, Let me not forget His Word!

Pro 3:1  My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: – Don’t forget it! Ever! It will preserve and keep us forever.  It will make us wise and give us understanding.  It will satisfy our soul, bring us to honor, be an ornament of grace and a crown of glory for us, it will deliver us.  IT IS OUR LIFE! (Proverbs 4)

May we remember that when we forget God, then He wil forget us.  America, I’m afraid as a nation may now be forgotten. (Hos. 4:6)  But praise the Lord, He does not forget His own.  There will be those from every tribe and nation in heaven praising God for all eternity.

Let us always remember that it was Jesus Christ who died and rose again for our sins.  Remember this and you will never be forgotten.  (2 Timothy 2:8)  Eph_1:13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Make His Name To Be Remembered!

Yes, I do want my grandchildren to know all about 9/11, but how can they know unless I make it known and repeat it?  In the same way, I want them to know all about God and Who He is, and what He did for them.  But if I don’t continually repeat it, they won’t know.  I am to make His name to be remembered in all generations… (Psalm 45:17)  As they come to know HIm they can pass it to the next generation.  Sadly, I feel as though I failed miserable in this. But it’s never too late to start!

I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations:
therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.  Psalms 45:17

Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children,
and their children another generation.  Joel 1:3

And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD;
and great shall be the peace of thy children.  Isaiah 54:13

LET US NEVER FORGET!
