Prayer Closet – “As He Was praying in a Certain Place”

Do You Have a Prayer Closet?

Recently I have been convicted about spending specific time with God in prayer.   I pray and I pray often.  The Bible does say to pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17  Pray without ceasing.  Prayer is a pretty common thing for me to do throughout the day and I am thankful that I can go to the throne of grace at any time night or day and can go boldly to ask for help in the time of need.  God is always there to hear and answer.  And oh how merciful He is!    Hebrews 4:16  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

But what about that certain place that I go to daily to pray?

I needed one.  I sit at my desk each morning to have devotions, but would often get distracted as I tried to pray – you know just every day things –  emails,  kitchen duties, phone calls, to do list, hubby needing something,  etc.  As I was thinking about it,  God said just go into your closet and pray.  Now I know not everyone can do this, but I am privileged to have a closet big enough to add a chair and to sit down in the quiet away from all distractions and focus just on praying.  It has helped so much!    And I am learning to love this certain place.  Across from  my chair is a cabinet to which I taped several verses on prayer that I can focus on during this time.   Beside me on a shelf I keep my prayer list that I can refer to and update if needed.

Luke 11:1  And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

What about you?  Do you have a “certain place” to pray every day?

Where is your secret place with the Lord, your prayer closet?
