Prayer – 10 Prompts for Saturday

How’s Your Prayer Life?   Are You entering into your prayer closet daily?  Why is it that prayer often seems the hardest thing to do?  It really should be quite an easy thing to do.  After all, we get to spend time with the King of Kings!  We don’t have to ask permission to enter his presence.  He is always there for us and has room for anyone who wants to enter.  What a privilege to enter the holy of holies and bring our petitions to THE KING OF KINGS!  If I could really get a hold of this, I think I would spend much more time on my knees.

Prayer Prompts for Saturday and Sunday

Prayer Prompts for Saturday

  • Sanctified – Realize how holy God is when you come before Him and ask Him to make you holy, to sanctify you.
    • 1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
  • Sacred – Pray that your life and the lives of your children, family, fellow believers will be kept sacred or holy for the use of the Master.
    • Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
  • Sacrifice-Are you willing to sacrifice to the Lord?  Pray that He directs in any sacrifice the He would desire of you.
    • Psalms 4:5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
  • Sad – Are you sad?  God can wipe the tears away and give you joy and gladness today.  Have you asked Him?  He can give comfort through trials and joy through pain. And He comforts us so that we may be a comfort to others.  Ask Him to show you who needs your love and sympathy today.   Who can you comfort in the Lord?
    • 2Co 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
2Co 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
  • Safety – Pray for safety and protection today.  It is God who keeps us for He never slumbers or sleeps.  I’ve known many times when the Lord has kept us safe because we asked Him.  I can think of one instance when I was awakened in the night to urgently pray for my son and a co-worker who were traveling very early in the morning.  The Lord kept them from harm’s way that night.  I learned later that the co worker’s wife had also been awakened to pray.  This was not a coincidence, but providential, from God.  Had we disobeyed the Spirit’s prompting, things may have been different.    Don’t just pray for physical safety, but pray for spiritual safety.  We are safe through the counsel of God’s Word.  He protects and gives discernment.
    • Psa 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
    • Psa 121:4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
    • Pro 19:21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
  • Saint – Pray that you will be the Saint (dictionary definition: a person sanctified; a holy or godly person) the He intended you to be and pray for all your family members and loved ones to become saints.  You are only a Saint if you have professed Jesus Christ as Your Savior.
    • Psa 30:4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
  • Satisfied – Ask the Lord to give you full satisfaction from Him today.  That is where true satisfaction comes from.  If you have loved ones who are living for the world, pray that they will realize that only true satisfaction comes from loving the Lord.  One day we will experience ultimate satisfaction when we behold Him face to face.
    • Psa_17:15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
  • Satanic – I don’t think we realize how often there is Satanic influence surround us or our loved ones. The devil is real!  We must never let down our guard regarding him. Praise God he is greater than him or any spiritual wickedness.  Pray for Him to overcome and to put down evil.  Do you know someone who is heavily influenced by the devil/wickedness?  Don’t give up on that person, but instead, keep bringing him/her to Jesus.
    • Eph_6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
  • Saturate – Pray that you will be willing to saturate yourself with the Word of God to know Him as you should.  We cannot know God as we should if we are not willing to be saturated with His Word.  How well to you know Him?  Ask the Lord to give you a true hunger and thirst for His righteousness.  He will fill us beyond what we could ever even think or ask.
    • Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
  • Salvation – Pray for the salvation of your loved ones, your family members, your friends.  Until the Lord returns or until the day of one’s death there is always hope.  Let us not lose site of this.  God is not willing that any should perish.
    • 2Pe_3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Please feel free to use these to help you in your prayer life. I often refer to these prompts for my own prayer life, but I don’t think our prayers should necessarily be a certain pattern where we unfold our neat little lists and one by one ask God for what is on the list.  There may be times that God leads us to pray like this, but most of all we should have our hearts in tune with God so that whatever He lays on our hearts we can bring those requests to Him with thanksgiving knowing that He will answer in the way that is best for us.  What a great and merciful God we serve!
