Have you ever had a snake in your closet or in your house?

Have You Ever Had A Snake In Your House Or A Snake In Your Closet?

My son recently found a snake in his front room closet; it was a black snack gratefully.  However, he probably would have not known it was there if it were not for the persistence of his son.  His five year old son saw it crawl onto the front porch and then slither through the screen door somehow and then into the front closet . . .
Have you ever had a snake in your closet or in your house?

I don’t think so.

His daddy kept saying, “I don’t think so, son.  It is just your imagination”, but his son would not give up, “yes, daddy, yes daddy I saw it.”  So his daddy proceeded to open the closet and look, but found nothing.
“You must have imagined it”, he said.  “No, daddy,  I saw it!”  So this time, his daddy proceeded to unload everything in the closet and sure enough coiled in the corner was a big black snack.

I’m glad that my grandson was persistent.

Snakes in my heart’s closet

I wonder how many snakes have crawled into the closet of my heart and I might not even know they are there.  You know, that old serpent, the devil, has a way of crawling close to our heart’s door and then slithering right on in without us even noticing sometimes.

Did I hear the Holy Spirit whispering and saying, there is a snake in there, you better get it out.  But I ignore it and say it is just my imagination.

Snakes are sneaky and you don’t always notice them.  That sneaky little sin got in and I didn’t even notice it.

Snakes are so fast that you might think you see it and then tell yourself it is your imagination.  That little sin is just my imagination.

Snakes are subtle, crafty, tricky, camouflaged, powerful, witty and treacherous. Did that snake just trick me into thinking that one little sin was not so bad?

But the Holy Spirit is persistent and says yes,  I see it,  I know it is in there;  that snake got in your closet and you better get it out!  Otherwise you may have more snakes and they will be even harder to get rid of.  Yes, one little sin can grow into a bigger one and before you know it – TRAPPED!

How important to walk daily in the Spirit and listen to His voice so that when a warning comes, we can listen and obey.

How important to be aware of that old devil, the serpent, who sneaks up on you and will slither right into your heart’s closet.  Don’t get caught by surprise for you may have a lot of cleaning out to do.  Daily we ought to ask the Lord to search our hearts and see if there be any wicked way in us and then to lead us in the way everlasting. (Ps. 139:23-24)

Do you have any snakes in your heart’s closet today?

Is there something that should not be there, that you are ignoring and telling yourself it is your imagination?  Maybe it is time to clean out those closets and look closely for that snake that may be coiled in the corner.  Don’t leave him there for he will strike over and over again.

Genesis 3:1  Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.
