Speak Lord for Your Servant Hears

Speak Lord For Your Servant Hears

Speak Lord for they servant heareth.  These were the words Eli told Samuel to say the next time he heard someone calling him.  Speak is the word chosen for Five Minute Friday this week.

1Sa 3:9  Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

Oh how I need to pay attention when the Lord is calling my name and be willing to say speak for your servant hears.

Life Does Change

Lately, it seems as all my family is going through some life changes.  Life does change you know.  Anyway,  sometimes I just want it all to be as it was before, but the Lord has different plans.  Waiting is hard but as we wait, we can say Speak Lord, we are waiting to hear what you have for us.  We are waiting to know your next step, your plans for us.

I realized the best place to hear the Lord speak to me is in His Word.  True He does speak by using circumstances and godly counselors in our life, but ultimately everything He says to us must be lined us with His Word.

Spend Time With God Every Day

Spend time with Him.  Every day read His word and meditate on it.  As you meditate, ask Him to speak to you, to show you the way.  He delights in showing us His way.  He has spoken with man since the beginning of time.  At times we don’t like to hear Him speaking because we know there is sin in our life that needs to be confessed and forsaken.

Gen 3:8  And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

So take care of that sin and then allow God to speak to you every single day?    He can speak to you all throughout the day as you walk and talk with Him.  Aren’t you glad we can come boldly before Him and speak to Him with our requests to find grace and help in our time of need?

Heb_4:16  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Yes, we are waiting and saying Speak Lord – Speak to us today, show us your ways and lead us in the way everlasting.

This is a Five Minute Friday Link Up.

Hi, I’m your neighbour today at FMF- I don’t think I’ve visited here before. I love that prayer that Eli taught Samuel- “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” It’s so simple, but it is exactly what we need to pray and a great reminder that we should expect God to speak to us as we read his Word.

    Thanks for visiting.
