Here’s How To Know You Are Building A Strong And Beautiful House

When you think about building your house for God, What kind of a house are you building?

Hezekiah was told to set his house in order for he would die. The truth is we will all die one day and we need to have our Spiritual houses in order for we know not when that day will be.

2Kings 20:1 Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.

As we travel life’s pathway we need to make sure that we are building the right kind of house.

So How do I build the right kind of house and how do I get my house in order?

Make plans and make sure that your house is one that is built on the Lord Jesus Christ.

1. PrepareNoah prepared when building in order to save his household.

Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; . . .

2. Count the cost before building.  Realize that the most costly foundation we have is Jesus Christ for He paid the price for our sins and will give us an eternal home in the skies.

3. Make sure your foundation is Christ alone.

He is the ROCK, the firm foundation that will never crack or fall down.

Psalms 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Is Jesus your foundation?  Have you trusted Him first as your Savior?  If not your house is built on nothing but sand and will surely not stand in any adversity.

4. Build your house according to code.

There is only one code book, the Bible.  Don’t take any shortcuts for upon inspection you will definitely fail.

Once we have our foundation, we will build on this house until the day we enter eternity.

1. Make preparations to live and die.

As you continue building your house, be sure you make preparations to live and to die.  And teach those who indwell it the same.

We often teach our children how to live, but have we taught them how to die?

Prepare to teach them diligently the Word of God so they will be led to Christ and want to build their own house on the same foundation.

2. Build your house on wisdom.

True Wisdom comes only from God.

Proverbs 9:1 Wisdom hath builded her house. . .

Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

3. Establish your house through understanding.

Proverbs 24:3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:

House Rules

What kind of HOUSE RULES do you have in your home?
These things are necessary as you build your house throughout your lifetime

1. Let Jesus indwell your house and fill it with precious and pleasant riches – the treasures found in God’s Word.

Proverbs 24:4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

2. Let Others know that Jesus lives there.  When others come to your house, they should know Jesus is here and they should be able to find Him easily.

My house should be open from the foundation to the roof top so others can enter and find Him.

Mark 2:4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

Anyone can get to Jesus if they want to.

3. Behave wisely within your house. Walk righteously before all that indwell there.

Psalms 101:2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

This will bring blessing to your household.

Proverbs 3:33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

4. Determine that your household will serve the Lord.

Joshua 24:15 . . . but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

5. Provide.  Make sure all provisions are met.

1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

6. Offer Sacrifices.  This would include a broken heart before God and lips of praise and thanksgiving.

Psalms 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Hebrews 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

7. Judge your own house first. Our daily prayer should be:

Psalms 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

Ask God to search every room, closet, nook and cranny and show you what clutter needs to go.  Keep your house thoroughly clean.

8. Don’t allow the enemy to enter. EVER!  That is the enemy of self and the devil.

Oh how our own lustful thoughts and actions and worldly ways would love to sweep us away from Jesus.  That is why the doors and windows of your house must be barred and guards be on the look out continually.

2 John 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

Most of all remember that your house is God’s temple.

This house is a holy place so we ought to live a holy life unto the Lord. Otherwise our house will fall apart.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

2 Corinthians 6:16-17 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

So what kind of house are you building?  One that is built on the sure foundation, Jesus Christ, I hope.  If not, you can start building today.

I love the Bible Song about the wise man and the foolish man.

The wise man built his house upon the Rock,
The wise man built his house upon the Rock,
The wise man built his house upon the Rock,
And the rains came tumbling down.

The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
But the house on the Rock stood firm.

The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
And the rains came tumbling down.

The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
And the house on the sand fell flat.

So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ,
So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ,
So build your life on the Lord Jesus Christ,
And the blessings will come down.

The blessings come down as your prayers go up,
The blessings come down as your prayers go up,
The blessings come down as your prayers go up,
So build your life on the Lord.
