Where Are You Going This Year?

Where are You Going This Year? Are You Headed in the Right Direction? As you travel life’s spiritual highway, why not stop at the  Ladies Meeting on Saturday? You can continue your trip planning there and pick up a friend to keep you company in your travels. The stop will be refreshing and will help you to focus on the one who can lead us along. You’ll go away with energy to feel like traveling on and to be a blessing to others along the way. See you there.

Our theme we used for our first ladies meeting of the year was “Road Trip” and the above announcement was made to our ladies before our first meeting.

Many of our ideas were taken from this site: Creative Ladies Ministry.  She has a wealth of ideas and the possibilities are endless.  One of her newest themes is “Road Trip” so we were thankful for the good ideas.

Decorations consisted of items related to travel such as globes, maps, brochures, binoculars, suitcases, etc.  It was simple yet cute.
Here was our itinerary:

  1. Pick up Passport
  2. Time to Tune Up before heading out on our Road Trip
  3. Announcements and Welcome
  4. Skit
  5. Road Games
  6. Special Music
  7. Devotional
  8. Lunch
  9. Secret Sister Drawing and Missionary Pen Pals

Each lady was given a passport with a sleeve as they arrived. The passport was stamped with the date and they were able to use it for their own benefit – notes, etc.  Bringing the passport back to each meeting hereafter to be stamped will land a special reward at the end of the year.

Below is a link to the file with the printable passport.  Feel free to use this for your own benefit.

The ladies were also asked to help us with a tune up before heading out on our road trip. They were given this form:
Once again we drew our idea for our skit from Creative Ladies Ministries.  She had a great skit to go along with the Road Trip theme.  I was so preoccupied with the events of the day that I forgot to get my video camera rolling.  The ladies involved in the skit did a great job and it really added a lot to the meeting.  Want to use the skit for yourself?  You can get it Here!

Thank you ladies for a job well done!

Creative Ladies Ministry also had a game that fit in perfect.  The game was called Oh, the Places We Have Been!  Our winner had been to 59 different states and countries. Wow!
Who doesn’t like to listen to a great CD while traveling?  We were privileged once again to hear one of our ladies sing “When I Make My Last Move”  You can read the words below and then see a video clip that I got once I remembered to turn on my camera. 🙂
We included a group song called “I Feel Like Traveling On”
What a blessed devotional we heard.  There were so many things on our “Road Trip” to make applicable to our lives.  Mrs. Sarah Engle, wife of an evangelist, was our speaker.  She and her husband just started the Engle Family Evangelistic Ministries.  They did quite a bit of traveling this past summer so she was quite fit to do our devotional.  You can click on each page to get a larger view to read its’ contents.
No ladies meeting is complete without food!   Many times while we are taking trips we stop at fast food restaurants.   So we included a fast food meal and on the menu was:

  • chicken salad croissants
  • choice of chips
  • sliced apples with dip
  • tea or water
  • an ice cream cone for the road

During lunch time, some of our ladies “picked up” a traveling companion.

  • Those that were involved in secret sisters for this year drew new names.
  • Other had the option of choosing a missionary pen pal.  Names and information of missionaries that our church supports were written on small cards.  Ladies could choose the missionary of their preference to keep up with during the year.  We are looking forward to hearing testimonies from individuals regarding their “traveling companions” in our coming meetings.

HAPPY TRAVELING!
John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
