Which is the better choice
When it comes to choices in this life, which would your consider the better of these two?
The Pleasure of Sin
Hebrews 11:24-25 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
The Pleasures of Christ
Psalms 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Moses was privileged to be raised in the house of Pharaoh. It is quite possible that one day he could have reigned on that same throne. But Moses made a choice. He chose to reject the pleasures of sin which Egypt was full of and rather suffer affliction with his people, God’s people.
Why did he do that?
From his writings in Deuteronomy, it is quite evident that he was taught in his earliest years to know God’s Word and walk with the wise.
He knew that to fear the Lord was the beginning of wisdom.
He knew that in the end life would be better.
He knew the the pleasure of sin was only for a season
He knew that to love the world, was to NOT love God
He knew that the path of life was only through God
He knew that only through God was true joy
He knew that one day life eternal would offer him pleasures forever.
Now which one do you think is the better choice?
As I think of the choices I’ve made throughout life, I realize how much better it is and was when I chose to do it God’s way instead of my own. As Joshua said, choose this day who you will serve, but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.
