You can serve the Lord at any age. It doesn't matter how young or old you are.

Instilling Biblical Truths Into My Grandchildren – You can serve the Lord at any age

Serve the Lord!  No matter how young or how old you are, spend your days in service for the Lord. This is just a simple truth, but one that we all need to be reminded of.

I often hear my grandchildren say, Can I help?  Can I do it?  Can I wash dishes?  Can I mow the lawn?  Oh how eager we are to serve when we are little; it is so exciting when we first learn and for a while we want to keep doing it, but then it sort of wears off and we often have a tendency to complain.   Oh, I’m tired of doing that.  Why can’t so and so do it?

Guess what?  This carries over into adulthood and we often find ourselves wishing we could stop serving in an area for a while or wanting to turn it over to someone else.  Instead we ought to have an attitude of joy ((Here are 5 ways to live a joyful abundant life) that we are able to and have the privilege of serving the King of Kings.

We can all serve the Lord no matter how young or old we are!

You can serve the Lord at any age. It doesn't matter how young or old you are.

Samuel was just a child when he ministered before the LORD.  He served the Lord all his life.

1Sa_2:18 But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.

There was a little maid who led Naaman to the prophet for healing

2Ki 5:2-3 And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman’s wife. And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.

Daniel and the three Hebrew children served God in adverse circumstances.  Even though they were separated from loved ones and their country, God cared for them and used them in mighty ways.  We never know who will be affected by our service for the Lord.

Dan 1:8-9  But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.  Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs

Dan 3:17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

This widow served God from the time she became a young widow until she became an old lady.  She served God all the days of her life.

Luk 2:37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

Serve the Lord with gladness

In Psalm 100  we are told to serve the Lord with gladness.  It ought to make us glad that we have the privilege of serving THE Creator, OUR Creator.

Even a child will be known by his doings. (Proverbs 20:11)  The Lord knows the motives of all hearts and knows when even a child is serving out of sincerity of heart towards the Lord.

No one can serve two masters.  (Matthew 6:24)  The truth is, if we don’t serve the Lord, then we are serving someone else.  Where is our service – for God or for Self?

Teach your children and grandchildren that they can, that we can be happy in the service of the King of Kings no matter where we are,  who we are, or how young or old we are.

I Am Happy in the Service of the King
Alfred H. Ackley

I am happy in the service of the King.
I am happy, oh, so happy;
I have peace and joy that nothing else can bring,
In the service of the King.

Chorus
In the service of the King
Every talent I will bring;
I have peace and joy and blessing
In the service of the King.

I am happy in the service of the King.
I am happy, oh, so happy;
Thro’ the sunshine and the shadow I can sing,
In the service of the King.

(Chorus)

I am happy in the service of the King.
I am happy, oh, so happy;
To His guiding hand forever I will cling,
In the service of the King.

(Chorus)

I am happy in the service of the King.
I am happy, oh, so happy;
All that I possess to Him I gladly bring,
In the service of the King.

Gal_6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
